Coronavirus can last 28 days on your Phone Screen! Well, maybe not.

One of my great annoyances is scientific articles that use highly controlled experiments to reproduce “real world situations,” especially to generate data that seem to be used only to scare people. In this regard, the news today presented “data” from a new article showing that SARS-Cov-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, can “survive for 28Continue reading “Coronavirus can last 28 days on your Phone Screen! Why has COVID-19 been so devastating to Americans? Unfortunately, we may be able to answer the question simply by looking in the mirror.

The number of people with severe illnesses from COVID-19 in the United States has appeared higher than in other countries on a per capita basis. The media has attributed this to failure of public health measures to control the viral infection. But there may be another reason why Americans have been particularly impacted by COVID-19. Continue reading “Why has COVID-19 been so devastating to Americans? Dr. Fauci also calls White House ceremony “Super-Spreader” event.

I received quite a bit of feedback from my blog post calling for an investigation of the Justice Barrett ceremony a “super-spreader” event. I have been reassured now that Dr Fauci agrees with my assessment. Therefore, we need to understand what happened there. I have been told that at least one attendee was screened forContinue reading “Dr. Fauci also calls White House ceremony “Super-Spreader” event.”

The Great Barrington Declaration

Since I started this blog last March, some of the least recognized concerns with the efforts to limit COVID-19 are the inadvertent mental and physical health problems suffered from the mitigations. The total shut down of work places and schools have yielded children not getting routine vaccines, parents losing jobs, people becoming more likely toContinue reading “The Great Barrington Declaration”

It is crucial to examine the Super-Spreader event at the White House.

There are many things that we don’t know about transmission of the COVID 19 virus. One thing is clear though, its unique tendency to spread in clusters — where one or a few infected persons infect a large number of individuals, often at a single event. This is interesting since the transmission of COVID-19 oftenContinue reading “It is crucial to examine the Super-Spreader event at the White House.”

A new federal stand-off may undermine healthcare for Medicare and Medicaid recipients.

A little noticed new federal mandate announced today may put many U.S. hospitals at risk. The federal coronavirus task force, led by Dr. Deborah Birx, decided to demand additional information from hospitals today. By the end of the year, the requirements for reporting of influenza and COVID-19 cases will become more exacting and carry remarkableContinue reading “A new federal stand-off may undermine healthcare for Medicare and Medicaid recipients.”

For those who can’t get enough of pandemicpondering.com

I have been providing information on medical issues for the past five nights on WGN’s national news program “News Nation.” I agreed to do this because they are focused on news and not commentary, and have no agenda as to what they report. The CDC Acknowledges the obvious..

Today the CDC finally made a statement that was obvious to everyone else; that aerosols can spread COVID-19. The concept that a cloud of virus released into the air from someone singing or speaking loudly could persist for some period of time In a closed space and infect other people has been well accepted. InContinue reading “The CDC Acknowledges the obvious..”

Three New York Newsmakers: The President, Regeneron, and Mayor de Blasio

Three topics for a Sunday evening. The President is in day three of the public portion of his COVID-19 diagnosis. He seems well, both from his physician’s reports and especially in a video of him speaking at Walter Reed that showed him without shortness of breath or any apparent weakness or trouble standing.  In contrast,Continue reading “Three New York Newsmakers: The President, Regeneron, and Mayor de Blasio”

Why are there conflicting reports on the President’s condition?

The President’s infection, day two.  Today’s reports confused me medically. Reports from the President’s physicians seemed to indicate that he is stable, in no respiratory distress, and requiring no supplemental oxygen to support his breathing. His personal physician also suggested the President no longer had a fever. There is certainly nothing disconcerting in any ofContinue reading “Why are there conflicting reports on the President’s condition?”
